Our journey begins at 8am in Montreal, where we board our first plane to Panama City.
Well, I say 8 o'clock... But we're leaving just over an hour late. Why are we late? We're not sure, as there's little or no communication. But one thing's for sure: the defrosting operation didn't help.
In the end, we arrived only 30 minutes late in Panama (probably due to the magic of the winds). For us, this doesn't change much as we have a 7-hour stopover here. But we had the choice of a 1h30 transfer when we booked... And I'm glad we didn't, as we'd have been pretty stressed and not sure our luggage would have kept up.
We visit the airport, which is nothing special (after all, it is an airport...). We eat and rest a little. Then back on the plane with Copa airlines to Guayaquil, where we have a 10-hour stopover. We've booked a hotel for the short night so we can get some rest.
For those wondering, in Guayaquil you have to collect your luggage if you're going to the Galapagos. For the Galapagos, you have to pass your luggage through a special scanner that checks that you don't have anything dangerous for the islands (if you have a short transfer of 1 or 2 hours... I'm not sure how it works).
Once we've collected everything, we're off to our hotel, the DC suite. Nothing crazy, but not too expensive, close to the airport, open 24 hours and offering a shuttle. All we needed was a bed, which suited us perfectly.
