I'll try to update the blog, but I also do a Polarsteps if you have the app. Link here.
September 28: Arrival in Tanzania
Well arrived in Tanzania! The flight from Zurich to Tanzania went very smoothly, with no delays or lost luggage. After 1 hour between immigration and luggage, we set off for our first lodge.
After a short drive along dirt and gravel paths, we arrive at the lodge.
We're having our first meal in 24 hours (yes, I don't count airplane meals as real meals, although Edelweiss Air's were pretty good! With fresh hot bread <3). On the menu vegetable soup, spaghetti bolognaise and apple cake. We go to bed around 9:30pm. It's going to feel good.
September 29: Rest day
After 24 hours of transport, we slept for almost 10 hours, and the hotel staff even knocked on the door to bring back a forgotten satchel, but it was impossible to wake us up.
After breakfast, we have a briefing with our Killimanjaro guide, Timotheo (or Timo). We talk about the program for the climb, the equipment we'll need and so on.
We have another good lunch before settling down by the pool after a dip in the afternoon.
The day then alternates between siesta, reading and observing the local fauna (many birds and reptiles at the lodge).
Around 7.30pm we have a meal of traditional dishes before going to bed at around 9pm. Tomorrow we leave for Kilimanjaro.
